The Highest Membership Grade of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration and Mediation, Conferred by Distinction on Senior Practitioners
Course Overview
Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration and Mediation (FCIAM) is the Institute’s highest grade of membership. It recognises seniority, sustained distinction, and demonstrable eminence in the practice of arbitration, mediation, or the wider field of dispute resolution.
Fellowship is conferred by distinction rather than by examination. It is reserved for senior legal practitioners and established ADR professionals whose standing, experience, and contribution to the field warrant admission to the Institute’s most senior rank. Fellows carry the FCIAM designation and take their place among the leadership of the profession in Nigeria and beyond.
Application for waiver may be considered from distinguished persons, application should be sent to registrar@ciamnigeria.org
Requirements
To be eligible for conferment of Fellowship, an applicant must satisfy one of the following:
- Legal practitioners with a minimum of twenty (20) years’ post-call experience; or
- Fellows of any reputable ADR institute in Nigeria, in either Arbitration or Mediation; or
- Full Members of any reputable ADR institute, with a minimum of fifteen (15) years’ professional experience, who have conducted at least five (5) arbitration cases as an Arbitrator and ten (10) mediation cases as a Mediator.
