Membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration and Mediation (CIAM) is not subject to an annual membership renewal fee.
Upon admission as an Associate Member, Full Member or Fellow, members retain their CIAM membership in accordance with the Constitution, Regulations and applicable provisions of the Institute.
Members may, however, elect to participate actively in one or more of the Institute’s professional Sections.
CIAM’s professional activities are organised through its established Sections. Membership of a Section is optional and is separate from membership of the Institute.
Members may subscribe to one or more Sections according to their professional interests, practice areas and areas of contribution.
| Professional Section | Annual Subscription |
|---|---|
| Section on Arbitration | ₦20,000 |
| Section on Mediation & Consensual Dispute Resolution | ₦20,000 |
| Section on ADR Practice & Development | ₦20,000 |
Section subscriptions are payable annually and apply for the relevant subscription year.
Participate in the professional activities and programmes of the subscribed Section;
Participate in the Committees established under the relevant Section, subject to the Institute’s applicable requirements;
Contribute to Section initiatives, professional discussions, research and publications;
Participate in Section meetings, projects and activities;
Access Section-specific professional opportunities and engagements; and
Collaborate with other CIAM members within the relevant professional area.
The Committees operating under each Section are the professional working units through which the activities of the Sections are undertaken.
Members are not required to pay a separate annual subscription for each Committee.
An active Section subscription permits a member to express interest in participating in the Committees established under that Section, subject to the applicable eligibility requirements, available positions and approval of the Institute.
A member who wishes to participate in Committees across different Sections may subscribe to each relevant Section separately.
Section subscription is not a condition for retaining CIAM membership. A member who does not subscribe to a Section remains a member of CIAM but will not hold active Section participation rights for that subscription year.
Section subscription also does not, by itself, constitute appointment, accreditation or designation as an arbitrator, mediator, neutral, committee officer or other CIAM functionary. Such appointments or designations remain subject to the applicable requirements and approval processes of the Institute.
Select the professional Section you wish to subscribe to and contact the CIAM Secretariat to begin the subscription process.
