Course Overview
The CIAM Dispute Board Member Certification Programme provides specialised training for professionals seeking to develop the knowledge and practical competencies required to serve effectively as members of dispute boards.
The programme examines the role and functions of dispute boards throughout the life of a project, including dispute prevention, early intervention, project monitoring, site and document review, hearings, recommendations and decisions, depending on the applicable dispute board model.
Participants will explore dispute board procedures, contractual frameworks, independence and impartiality, communication with project stakeholders, management of technical and contractual issues, and the preparation of reasoned recommendations or decisions.
The programme is particularly relevant to professionals involved in construction, infrastructure, engineering, energy, procurement, project management and commercial contracts.
Upon successful completion of the programme and the applicable assessment requirements, participants may be awarded the CIAM Dispute Board Member Certification, subject to the Institute’s accreditation requirements.
Requirements
Be at least 25 years of age.
Possess a relevant tertiary or professional qualification.
Have professional experience in construction, engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, project management, law, procurement, infrastructure, energy, finance or another relevant field.
Demonstrate an understanding of commercial or project-based contracts.
Complete the prescribed CIAM training programme.
Satisfy the applicable attendance and participation requirements.
Successfully complete the prescribed assessment.
Meet any additional requirements stipulated by CIAM for the relevant programme.
